Summer at Alpenzeit
Flachau is the place to be in summer, surrounded by green mountains, and with a long list of possible activities, it is understandable that people want to go to Flachau for an active and relaxed summer holiday. There is much to do here, the atmosphere is relaxed and Flachau is very hospitable.
For instance, you can enjoy a wonderful swim and sun yourself in Badesee or Reitdorf. Or do you prefer a day of indoor swimming? In the subtropical swimming pool Thermen Amadé you will find indoor and outdoor pools. Children are more than welcome here. There are pools and glides for children here.
Before you go into the mountains, you first will have to decide what you want to do. There is much choice. Cycling, rafting, swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, climbing or ‘just’ walking? If you would like to go for a walk, in the immediate surroundings of Flachau there is more than 100 kilometres worth of walking paths and also more than 20 cabins which you could walk to. Moreover, there are various ski lifts available in Flachau which enable you to take a unique walk through the mountains.
Would you like some variety and do you feel like a cultural trip? You could, of course, take a daytrip to the city of Salzburg, Schloss Werfen, Zell am See, Jagersee, Johanneswaterval, the ice caves, Hochkonig, Arthurhaus in Muhlbach, Lichtensteinklamm, Großglockner or Hochalpenstrasse
Walking
You will find amazing walking possibilities in Flachau. You could choose to go for a simple walk, but there are also more challenging walking routes available. The elaborate walking information will always include walking routes suitable for you. Characteristic of Flachau,15 marked stages from 1.5 hours to 8 hours of walking, 150 km of marked walking paths, choice between forest, meadows and mountains, weekly organised walking tours with guides.
Mountain-biking
Flachau, “Best for Bikers”. With 45 marked routes, Flachau the mountain bike Mecca. Routes from 20 km or 80 km, heights of 300 or 3000 meters, to climb everything on your bike or take the lift “the flying Mozart”, to take you bike to the top, the choice is yours. Of course there are beautiful cabins along the way where you could have a bite to eat or a drink. 2 riding routes are available on a daily basis under the supervision of a guide to, for instance, Frauwenalm, Griessenkar, Sattelbauer, Marbachalmen, Altenmarkt – Zauchensee, Jagersee, etc.
Race-biking
Enjoyment, but also a proper workout on your race-bike. Who would not like to cycle through Gross Glockner, with your bike in the snow. Flachau offers the race biker much choice. 20 laps have been marked out that are easy to download on your Garmin, from 30 to 180 kilometres, heights of 500 or 5000 metres, with beautiful mountain views. We are happy to take you to Filzmoos, across the Dachstein Mountains, Grossarl with its Jagersee, Hochkonig, Maria Alm or the Amade lap. Routes for more than …weeks
Swimming
It is a 10 minute walk from our house to the swimming lake of Reitdorf, it is 2 metres deep max. and therefore beautifully clear and at a wonderful swimming temperature in summer. Do you prefer to swim indoors or to go to the wellness, then Thermen Amade is the choice for you, also in summer. Thermen Amade is located within 5 minutes of our house.
Mountain cart
You can easily go up to the mountain of Sattlebauer on the bus with carts on a daily basis. Here you will take a seat in your cart and then go down at full speed. A spectacular experience under supervision. Then take a break and get ready for the 2nd round. Children from 8 years old.
Segway
Segway is such a fun sport. A wonderful ride through the village or a longer tour through the mountains on this motorized two-wheeler. Children from 10 years old.
Rafting
Are you ready for a wild ride on the Salzach or the Enns? We depart from Flachau for a beautiful day on the water on a daily basis. Depending on your level, we will choose a beginners programme or a more challenging programme.
Horseback riding
You will find the stables of Reitdorf within 500 meters of Alpenzeit. Here you will find over 20 kilometres of tracks in which you can freely enjoy proper paths and beautiful views together with you faithful companion. There are also many possibilities for pony lovers.
Golfing
You can play golf everywhere in the world. In the immediate surroundings of Flachau within 12 kilometres you will find a beautiful 18 hole course amidst the mountains where you could work on your handicap. You will also find a beautiful hilly 18 hole course within 30 kilometres in Goldegg.
